Auto-forward or hosted balance — which one actually pays out faster?

Genuine question rather than a complaint. On Plisio you can either let it auto-forward every payment to your wallet as it lands, or let it accumulate in the hosted balance and withdraw when you want.

Everyone here says auto-forward without qualifying it. But my average order is small — thirty to sixty dollars — and auto-forward means one on-chain transaction per order rather than one per week. On the chains my customers actually use that is not free.

Has anyone costed both sides of this on small tickets, or are we all just repeating not-your-keys at each other?

we're repeating it because it's true. the fee difference is a rounding error against a balance you can't access.

Costed it last year on almost exactly your ticket size, so here's the shape of it.

At forty dollars average with auto-forward on, you pay the network fee on every single order. On Tron that's cents and the argument is over. On anything where the fee is a dollar or more you are burning two and a half per cent of every order to avoid a custody risk that materialises maybe once.

So the honest version of the advice is: auto-forward is free on the chains you should already be using, and expensive on the ones you shouldn't. If your customers pay you in something with a real fee, the answer isn't accumulate a balance, it's stop taking that coin.

IME the people who lose money to a hosted balance aren't the ones who chose it deliberately. They're the ones who never opened the settings page.

My customers pay in what they hold, and I do not get to tell them to stop. That is the part of this that keeps not being answered — refuse the coin is not an option available to everyone.

Is available. You just not like the answer. Some order you lose, some fee you not pay. Anyway both is a cost, only one is a cost you control.
