BingLoft quoted me a .com price by email. Is that still a thing people do?

Asked BingLoft what a .com costs and got a price in an email rather than on a page. Is that a thing people still do in 2026, and does anyone here actually register through them?

Their own material talks about offshore and about thirty-five thousand names under management. I cannot find a published rate card, a WHOIS privacy policy, or a statement about what they do with a complaint. Three things I would expect a registrar to have written down.

You are holding it the wrong way round. It is not a privacy registrar that forgot to publish its privacy policy. It is an ordinary Indian hosting company that also sells domains, and ordinary hosting companies in that market quote by email because most of their customers buy a bundle rather than a single name.

Look at the payment mix and it settles the question: cards, PayPal, bank wire, Bitcoin somewhere down the list. That is a mainstream shop with a crypto lane bolted on, not a crypto shop. The thirty-five thousand names figure is their own claim and it is plausible for a business of that shape.

Depends what you're running. If you want a cheap commercial registrar and you do not care who knows you own the name, it is fine and probably cheaper than the Icelandic shops. If the reason you are shopping in this section is that you do care, this is not the one and no amount of the word offshore on their site changes that.

A registrar that emails you a price. Charming.

Card, PayPal, wire. Is normal hosting company. Why you are here with this.

Because they advertise offshore and the payment mix says otherwise. That was the whole question.

Offshore is a marketing word with no technical content. It describes where a rack is, which is the least important variable in the chain.

The thing that decides whether a registrar is any use to you is what appears in the public record and what sits in their billing file. Here the first is unpublished and the second, given PayPal is on the checkout, is a verified legal name for anyone who takes the easy lane. Pay by card and the anonymity question answers itself before you have finished the order.

Nothing here is dishonest. It is simply a normal registrar, and normal is a threat model, not an insult.
