My buyers are 55+ and have never seen a wallet — which checkout doesn't lose them?

I have doubt and i think here is the right place.

My product sell very well, but my customer is not this forum. Is people 55, 60 year old, they buy from Facebook, they pay with card their whole life. Now i put crypto checkout because of the reasons everybody here know, and the sales fall off a cliff.

Is not that they say no. They just stop. They open the page, they see "send BTC to this address" with the QR, and they close it. One woman actually send me email asking where is the place to put the card number, she think the site is broken.

So what do people use when the buyer never touch crypto one time in his life? Everything i read here assume the customer already have a wallet. Mine don't even have the word.

you don't have a checkout problem. you picked an audience that pays by card and then took the card away

I've measured this because I had the same collision, and the shape of the drop-off tells you which fix applies.

Same offer, same traffic source, three checkouts, eleven days each, roughly 900 sessions per arm:

Checkout Reached pay screen Completed Completion
Address + QR only 612 41 6.7%
Address + QR + "how to buy" page 588 63 10.7%
Card field, converts at the rail 631 217 34.4%

The middle arm is the interesting one. A help page recovers some of them, and it is cheap, but it is nowhere near closing the gap — because the problem isn't that they don't know how, it's that you've asked a stranger to go and open an account somewhere else and come back. Almost nobody comes back.

The third arm is a card field on your page. They never learn what a wallet is, because they never need one. You eat about 4% and the decline rate is real, and it is still five times the first arm.

Caveat on my own numbers: my audience is not 55+, it's roughly 30-45. I would expect the gap to be wider for yours, not narrower.

Price point and which countries? "55+ on Facebook" in Brazil and in Germany are different problems.

Sorry, is true i not say. Price is 197 reais, so like 35 dollar. Almost all Brazil, some Portugal.

The Portugal ones actually convert better and i don't know why.

At 35 dollars a card field is the only thing that will move this. Anything that requires the buyer to acquire crypto first is asking for more effort than the product is worth to them, and that's a ratio they judge instantly.

The card-to-crypto flow from NowPayments is the usual answer: they type a Visa or Mastercard, it converts at the rail, you receive crypto and you're never the merchant of record on the card side.

Two things to know before you switch. Declines are meaningfully higher than a normal acquirer, especially on certain BIN ranges, and Brazilian consumer cards are not a range anyone optimises for — test with three or four real cards before you believe a number. And the gateway can suspend a category, so it is a rail, not a permanent home.

Paying four percent and taking decline risk so that somebody never has to learn what an address is. In 2026. Fine, it converts, I just want it on the record that this is the expensive way round.

For what it's worth I was that customer about eighteen months ago and the QR page absolutely did make me think the site was broken. Nobody tells you the address is where the money goes.

Before you change rail, change the page. Is cheaper.

Put video 60 second, face of person, show exactly what to click. Not text, video. Old customer watch video. Also put chat with real human for first two week and read what they ask you, is different question than you think.

Anyway i do this on offer for old audience and conversion go from 8 to 19 with same checkout. Rail was never the problem, the page was. Then you change rail also and you get both.

Small update. I put the video first because is free, conversion go up but not enough, maybe 8 to 12.

Now i test the card thing in parallel. Two week in, the completion is much better like the table say, but i already have 4 decline out of 19 attempt and every decline is one email to me asking what happen. So i trade one problem for smaller problem.

Still not solved really. Thank you everybody.
