Card checkout balance held "pending review" and my category quietly left their list

So three weeks ago I was in here saying the card-to-crypto checkout was a game changer and honestly it WAS, conversion went from nothing to something overnight because people can just put a card in.

Now the balance says pending review. $4,180. And when I went to check the supported categories page my MCC isn't on it anymore. I am fairly sure it was on it when I signed up in April because I checked, that was literally the reason I signed up!

Has anyone had a category pulled from under them like this and got paid out after? Deposits still work which feels insane.

About 1.4% I think? Maybe a bit over. It spiked in June because of one bad week of traffic.

there it is. 1.4 is roughly double where anyone stops being tolerant of you and the category page has nothing to do with it

they didn't pull your MCC. the acquirer behind them pulled it, and yours was the account that made them notice

Two things are being collapsed into one here and separating them is the only way you get a useful answer.

The card side and the crypto side are different businesses that happen to share a login. On the card side you are not the merchant of record — the gateway is — which is exactly the thing you were buying, and it also means their tolerance for your ratio is much lower than a normal acquirer's would be, because your chargebacks land on their portfolio, not yours.

So: a 1.4% ratio on someone else's merchant account is not a slow-burn problem the way it would be on your own. It is a direct cost to them from the first month.

Post the month-by-month if you have it. Volume, disputes, ratio. Without that everyone is going to tell you a story about the category page.

Do you have a screenshot of the category page from April, or is "I'm fairly sure I checked" the evidence?

Game changer. Three weeks.

On the actual question — yes, people do get paid out after a category suspension, but the ones I have seen paid were the ones whose ratio came back down before the review finished. Nobody releases a balance to an account that is still generating disputes into their portfolio.

Practical order for the next fortnight: kill the traffic source that caused the June spike, answer every dispute you can still answer, and do not open a second ticket.

And for the rebuild afterwards, if the category is genuinely on someone's prohibited list, look at the gateways that name high-risk MCCs in their marketing rather than the ones that quietly tolerate them. SpicePay is the obvious one there — you disclose what you sell at signup and it is on the record, which is less comfortable but is precisely why they do not pull the rug at month three. Fee is roughly double and it is crypto-in only, so you lose the card conversion you liked.
