changenow quoted me 9% on a xmr to usdt swap, what are you lot using instead

Fair. The variance point is the only part that is not obvious and I could have led with it.
I have settled on SideShift for anything I do more than once, mostly because the variable mode prices honestly and the API is clean enough to script against rather than clicking through a form every time.
The caveat is in the name. Variable means variable — you get a predictable process, not a predictable rate, and if you need to know the exact output before you send then this is the wrong tool and you should pay the fixed-rate tax somewhere else. It is also no-KYC by default rather than by promise, and stricter checks do exist for very large flows, so do not plan a treasury around it.
For a two thousand dollar xmr leg it is what I would use.
One point that will get the usual reception. Whichever of these you land on, keep the four numbers hexforge listed for every swap you do, not just the test ones.
Swaps are the hardest thing in this whole stack to reconstruct after the fact; there is no statement, no account, and no counterparty who will confirm anything. Six months from now the difference between a record and a memory is significant, and the marginal effort per swap is about thirty seconds.
Actually my friend I stay on ChangeNOW and is not because is cheapest, is because is the only one that take my card for the fiat leg down here.
Everybody in this thread is swapping crypto to crypto and for that yes, of course, use the cheap one. For someone who need to get in from a Brazilian card the choice is not five options, is one option, and nine percent is what it cost to have any option (uma opção). Different problem, same thread.
That is a fiat on-ramp question. He asked about a crypto leg.
What size does the on-demand check actually trigger at on the variable-mode venue? A client would be running well above the numbers in this thread.
You just told the thread your size band and your reason for asking. Do not do that.
Nobody here can give you a threshold anyway, because it is not published and it is not fixed. Find out privately with your own money in increments.
Three month later, for anybody who find this thread from search.
I run SideShift for xmr legs and SimpleSwap when I want to see both quote before I decide. ChangeNOW I keep account open, I still use for pairs the other two not have. Cost is roughly two percent where before I pay nine, so is worth the evening it take to test.
But is no winner here. Every one of them is best at something and worst at something else, and anybody who tell you one name for everything is not swapping much. Anyway that is my answer, thanks all.
