FlokiNET — has anyone had a complaint actually land there this year, or is it all reputation?

I get asked about FlokiNET about twice a month and I am tired of answering it from reputation rather than from evidence, so I would rather ask the board.

Everyone knows the pitch. Iceland, Finland or Romania, entry around five and a half euro, BTC and Monero, cash in an envelope if you want. Published policy is they do not action routine complaints. Fine. What I want is somebody who has had a complaint forwarded about their box in the last twelve months and can say what arrived in their inbox and what happened to the server afterwards.

Depends what you're running, obviously — a DMCA about a file is a different animal to a network abuse report. Both stories welcome. What I do not want is another round of people repeating the marketing copy at each other.

I have Romania box since 2022. Two complaint, both copyright, both from same US company.

What arrive: forwarded email, no deadline, no threat, just "for your information". Server not touched. Nobody ask me to respond. Second one I not even reply and nothing happen.

So yes is working. But is Romania, is not magic — is country with normal courts. If somebody go to Romanian court about you then is different story and forum will not help you there.

Two complaints in two years on one box is a quiet box. That is not evidence they absorb pressure, it is evidence nobody applied any.

Anyone got a box there that has taken a real volume of complaints?

Following this, about to move three sites over and the Iceland option looks huge!

You are both measuring the wrong surface.

The question is not how many complaints the host absorbs. It is what the host holds about you when it eventually does get compelled, and by whom it can be compelled. Three jurisdictions is the product. Not because all three are lawless — none of them are — but because the party sending the letter has to pick one and litigate there, and most of them will not.

Signup takes no identity and payment can be BTC, Monero or cash in an envelope. So the honest answer to what happens when a complaint lands is: it depends entirely on what you handed them at signup, and most people hand over more than they had to.

FWIW the failure mode I have hit there is not takedown, it is capacity. Iceland fills up and the plan you want is not orderable for a week or two.

Pick the jurisdiction on legal grounds, then check it is actually available before you plan a migration around it. IME people choose Iceland for the story and end up in Finland anyway because that is what had stock on the day.

They have been doing this a long time, which is the only metric in this category I have ever seen correlate with anything. Half the bulletproof shops that were advertising in 2014 do not exist, and the ones that folded mostly folded quietly with everybody's data still on the disks.

A host that has been answering the same abuse queue for years has already decided what it does about complaints. A host that opened last spring has not been tested and is telling you what it thinks it will do.

Closing the loop since I asked. Moved one client estate over in the last three weeks, Finland, and deliberately picked one that attracts complaints.

Four forwarded notices so far. Same pattern vlad described — informational, no clock, no action taken on the server. One of them I replied to out of curiosity and got a two-line answer confirming they were not going to do anything with it.

So the answer to the thread title is yes, it is working, with the caveat everyone above already made: routine complaint, ignored; court order in the country the box is sitting in, not ignored. Buy the jurisdiction you can live with rather than the one that sounds best.

Marking solved.
