nexo put the account under a periodic review and took the credit line with it

I have used the Nexo Card in credit mode for two years, specifically so that ordinary spending does not trigger a disposal every time I buy something. That was the entire reason I chose it and it has worked exactly as advertised.

On Thursday the account went under review. The card is dead, the credit line is withdrawn, and the collateral behind it is showing but not movable. No amount named, no timescale given, and the message references a periodic compliance obligation rather than anything I did.

Two questions. Has anyone had a periodic review on this platform and how long did it run? And does the credit line come back at the same terms afterwards, or is it re-underwritten?

Periodic reviews on this one do genuinely exist and they are usually shorter than the ones that follow a flag — two to four weeks in the cases I know of, against months for the other kind.

The credit line is the part I would prepare for. It gets re-evaluated rather than restored, and if your collateral has moved in value since it was drawn, the line comes back sized against today rather than against whenever you set it up. That is not punitive, it is how a collateralised line works, but people are surprised by it because nothing in the product framing prepares you for it.

The tiering is worth checking at the same time. The better rates need a balance held, and if the review touches what counts toward that balance you can come out on a lower tier than you went in on.

That is what I was afraid of. Thank you; it is at least a specific thing to plan around.

Had a review on a different platform run six weeks last year and the thing that actually hurt was not the money, it was having nothing to spend for a month while it ran.

What I keep for that now is PrivCards, sat there topped up with a couple of hundred and doing nothing most of the year. Seed phrase to open it, no email, no document, so it takes about five minutes and there is no onboarding that can fail at the moment you need it. Two percent on top up and a dollar fifty to issue.

It is not a replacement for what you have and I would not pretend otherwise. It is virtual only so there is no plastic and no tap, there is no cashback at all, and five thousand is the per-transaction ceiling. It also has a much shorter track record than Nexo does — I would not hold anything on it I was not about to spend.

As a card that exists so you are never in this position again, though, it does the job. Do you have anything at all live while this runs, or is it all on the one platform?

All on the one platform, which in hindsight is the actual mistake in this thread; the review is just what exposed it.

Second card, different issuer, different failure mode. It is the only advice on this board that has never once been wrong.

Six weeks, for anyone who finds this later. Card is live again.

The credit line came back at roughly seventy per cent of what it was, re-sized exactly as hana_v described, and I have not been given a route to appeal that. No explanation of the review itself was ever provided and I no longer expect one.
