PRQ at thirty euro — am I buying a server or twenty years of not folding?

Been quoted around thirty euro a month for a PRQ box that is, on paper, worse than a five euro one from four other places on this board.

I know the history. I was around for it. They hosted the thing everybody knows they hosted, got raided over it, got sued over it, and are still answering email in 2026, which is more than can be said for most of the names I was recommending in 2014. That is worth something.

What I cannot work out is whether it is worth six times something. The UI is from another era, capacity is small, and every complaint-absorption story I can find about them is at least a decade old. Somebody talk me into or out of it, because at the moment I am arguing with myself and losing both sides.

Depends what you're running, and from your post it sounds like content that attracts letters rather than content that attracts law enforcement. Those are different products.

For letters, you are overpaying. FlokiNET starts around five and a half and ignores the same routine complaints, and you can pick from three countries instead of one. Put the difference into a second box somewhere else and you have redundancy, which has saved me more estates than any single host's reputation ever has.

For the other thing — the case where somebody senior gets personally annoyed and starts spending money — history is the only signal available and PRQ has more of it than anyone. I would not tell a client not to buy it. I would ask them which of the two situations they are actually in, because most people who think they are in the second one are in the first.

Redundancy is not a substitute for a host that does not fold, it is a way of surviving one that does. They are not interchangeable and treating them as interchangeable is how people end up moving the same estate four times in two years.

Operating history is the only thing in this category anybody can actually verify. Everything else is a policy page, and a policy page is a sentence somebody wrote.

It is verifiable and it is also backward looking. A host that absorbed pressure in 2012 was run by people who may no longer be there, on a legal footing that has moved, in a country that has since signed things it had not signed then.

I am not saying the history is worthless. I am saying you are paying a premium priced off events that happened before some of this board's members could read, and nobody in this thread including you has a complaint-handling story about them from the last five years.

thirty euro is a rounding error against one estate going down. this is not the line item to optimise mate

Small capacity is the real problem, not price. I ask them for something bigger last year and answer was they not have it.

So you can pay premium and still not get the box you want. Sweden only also, no choice of country. Is fine if what you need is small and legal-hard, is not fine if you need to grow.

This is the right objection and nobody has answered it. Two people in this thread are defending a price with events from over a decade ago.

Post a complaint that landed there since 2023 and what came of it. If nobody can, the honest answer to the thread is that we do not know and are guessing from a legend.

Nobody can, because the people who need that host are not the people who post about it.

That is not me dodging. It is the actual reason the evidence you are asking for does not exist for any host in this tier, and why history keeps being the proxy.

Two weeks on and I have not bought it, which I suppose is an answer of a kind.

What changed my thinking is the capacity point rather than either side of the price argument. If the plan I would want in a year does not exist there, then I am not choosing a host, I am choosing a host plus a future migration, and the migration is where estates die.

Leaving this unsolved because the thread never produced the thing Ravenstack asked for and I am not going to pretend it did.
