Still paying for IVPN, or did everyone quietly go back to Mullvad?

Renewal is coming and I want to know if people still use IVPN or was it only for the port forwarding period.

I switch two years ago when Mullvad remove forwarding. Since then I use multi-hop maybe four times, port forward always, obfuscation never. So I pay for three feature and use one.

Anyway question is simple. Anybody here still on it and happy, or is everybody back on the five euro flat one and not saying?

you're describing a service that does exactly what you bought it for and asking if you should stop. no

Still on it. It is the right tool if you need inbound and an account that is a random ID rather than a person, and there is nothing else that does both properly.

The qualification I would give anybody reading this later: the headline price is a three year number. Six and change a month only exists if you commit for three years, and committing for three years to a service you chose because it does not know who you are is a slightly ridiculous position to argue yourself into. Pay monthly, pay in Monero, accept that it costs more than the sticker.

Gibraltar rather than Sweden is the other thing nobody weighs. It is fine. It is not obviously better or worse, it is just a different set of assumptions, and if you moved for privacy reasons rather than feature reasons you should know you also changed jurisdiction.

Multi-hop you will use four times a year, as you say. That is not a reason to leave. It is a reason to stop counting features.

Pay for three, use one. Welcome to every subscription.

One thing worth checking before you renew anything: whether your forwarded port is actually surviving reconnects, because on both providers I have seen the config keep working while the forward silently stops.

IME the tell is that outbound is fine so monitoring is green. Pin the keepalive on the client side and stop assuming the peer will tell you:

[Interface]
PrivateKey = <redacted>
Address = 10.64.0.2/32
DNS = 10.64.0.1

[Peer]
PublicKey = <redacted>
AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0
Endpoint = <exit>:51820
PersistentKeepalive = 25

Twenty five seconds because most consumer NAT tables expire somewhere around thirty. If you are behind carrier grade NAT go lower and stop being surprised.

Monthly rather than the three year rate is roughly double. Is the port forward worth double to you, or is it worth the advertised price only?

Worth asking out loud because the advertised price is what everyone quotes and nobody pays.

Worth double. A three year prepayment is a three year record of a payment, and I am not making one of those to save a few euro a month.

Bumping because I went looking for this exact comparison six months on and this is still the only thread on the board that treats the commitment term as part of the price rather than a footnote.

Did anybody actually renew, and at which rate? These threads always stop the day before the useful post.

I renew monthly. Is more expensive yes, but nullroute is right about the record, I not think about this before.

Still only use multi-hop maybe two time since February. Anyway is fine.
