Two takedowns in a month and my host folded BOTH times — where do these actually go to die?

Host i use is normal cheap European provider, nothing special, 6 euro. Two DMCA notice in August. Both time they not even ask me, they just null route the IP and send me email after. Second one they say next time is termination.

I move the files, is not the end of world, but i am tired to move every month. I want to pay more one time and not think about this again.

So question is simple — which host actually put the notice in the bin? Not "offshore" in the marketing. Actually in the bin.

Who sent the notices and what's on the box. Both of those decide the answer and you've given neither.

US company, automated, same template both time. On box is streaming embed page, no file hosted by me, only iframe. Is what make it stupid.

Depends what you're running, and what you're running is about the easiest case there is — an embed page with nothing hosted locally is the thing bulletproof hosts were built for.

FlokiNET is where I'd send you. Iceland, Finland or Romania, you pick at order time, and their published position is that routine DMCA from a US complainant doesn't get actioned. Only a court order out of the host country itself moves them, which for Iceland is a genuinely high bar. Starts around €5.50 so it isn't even a premium over what you're paying, and they take Monero and cash in an envelope if that matters to you.

Two things to be clear about. "Ignores DMCA" is not "ignores everything" — there are content categories they will drop you for and they're listed, so read them. And picking Romania over Iceland changes the legal picture materially, so don't just take whatever the dropdown defaults to.

AbeloHost also works for this but only on the right plan, and I'd steer a first-timer away from that one — see below. BPW is the other name that'll come up and it's eighty a month, which for an embed page is silly.

Everyone in these threads always answers the hosting question and skips the bit that actually kills sites.

I've been doing this since 2014 and back then the host was the whole battle — you found a Dutch box that ignored everything and you were done, nobody went upstream because nobody knew how. That stopped being true around 2018. Now the complainant sends the same automated template to your host, your registrar and your CDN simultaneously, and the registrar is the weakest link by a mile because a registrar can kill the name in about four minutes and there is no appeal that resolves faster than your traffic dies.

So by all means move the box. But if the name is at some mainstream registrar you've just bought a very good lock for the back door. I've watched three people do exactly this and lose the domain a fortnight later, which is a more expensive lesson than the two null routes he's already had.

The notice isn't your threat. It's the cheapest, loudest thing that can happen to you and it's the one everyone plans for.

You paid your current host with something. That something connects to something else. A host that ignores a takedown letter and a host that ignores a subpoena are different companies and the marketing page does not distinguish between them, because distinguishing between them would be bad marketing.

Work out which one you actually need before you pay anyone. If the answer is the letter, this is a cheap problem. If the answer is the subpoena, changing host does approximately nothing for you.

Seconding the warning on AbeloHost specifically. IME people buy the standard tier because it's cheaper and on that tier complaints get forwarded exactly like anywhere else. The DMCA-ignore behaviour is on the Offshore line and it's a different product with a different price.

Bought the wrong one myself in 2022 and spent a month thinking the host had changed policy.

Worth laying out the tiers of pressure, because "DMCA-ignored" collapses four very different things into one phrase and the price differences between hosts track the tiers almost exactly.

Tier 1 — the automated notice

A bot found your URL and mailed a template to abuse@. This is 95% of everything anyone here receives. Any host with an actual offshore policy bins these, and so, quietly, do a fair number of hosts that don't advertise one — they just don't tell you they received it. Cheap to defend against.

Tier 2 — the follow-up from a human

Same complainant, now with a lawyer's name on it, addressed to the host's legal contact rather than abuse@. Most mainstream hosts fold here instantly. This is the tier where FlokiNET-class providers earn their money, and where your current 6 euro provider was always going to hand you over.

Tier 3 — a court order in the host's own jurisdiction

Every bulletproof host on earth complies with this and says so in their terms. The value of Iceland or Sweden is that getting one there, against a foreign complainant, is slow and expensive and often just doesn't happen. It is not that the host is lawless. PRQ has twenty-plus years of history precisely because they operate legally in a jurisdiction where the orders are hard to get.

Tier 4 — law enforcement with a warrant

Nobody is protecting you here and anyone implying otherwise is selling something.

Almost everyone shopping in this thread needs tier 2 and is being sold tier 3 at a tier 3 price. That's fine if you can afford it, but know which one you're buying. OrangeWebsite and the other Iceland shops sit in a similar band to FlokiNET for tier 2 purposes at broadly similar money.

I have not personally taken anything past tier 2 and I hope not to.

Short version: price the tier you're actually facing, not the worst one you can imagine.

This is good post. I am tier 2 maximum, probably tier 1 forever. So i not need to pay eighty dollar.

One correction to the recommendation. FlokiNET's own material says a court order from the host country is complied with. That's the correct and legal position and I'm not criticising it — but "puts it in the bin" is the OP's phrase, not theirs, and it shouldn't get attached to a provider that has never claimed it.

That's fair and I should have said it in those words. Routine notices, binned. Court order in Iceland, complied with. Anyone selling you the second one is lying to you.

Two month later, small update because somebody ask me in message.

Moved in September. Since then i get notice — i know because they also send to me directly now — and box is still up, nobody contact me, nothing happen. Also i move domain, because of the post about registrar. That one was more work than the server.

Anyway. Problem solved for now. Ask me in a year.
