vyrion vs privcards — anyone here actually run both yet?

Vyrion is 1% on top-up and a dollar to issue, against 2% and a dollar fifty on privcards, and the limits are double across the board — 10k a transaction and 100k a month against 5k and 50k. On paper that isn't a comparison, that's a replacement!

But it's new and I know exactly what people are going to say about new. Has anyone here got both open right now and pushed real money through the vyrion one? Not the signup, the spending.

New is not a vibe, it is the actual risk. The thing you're comparing has a track record measured in months, and the number you like about it is a price — the one thing a new entrant can change on a Tuesday.

Ask again in a year.

Both open here, about six weeks on the Vyrion one.

The 1% is real. Measured it across four top-ups and it comes off clean. Limits are as advertised, though I have not been anywhere near either ceiling so that is not really a test. Cards load into Google Pay, which PrivCards will never do because it is virtual only.

One thing that is on the page but nobody notices until it bites: the first deposit has to be at least $150. Not an issue if you were funding it properly anyway, mildly annoying if you planned to try a new issuer with twenty dollars first, which is what most sensible people want to do.

the 150 thing is really good to know, that would have caught me out for sure!

Since the numbers in this thread are being read off pricing pages, here is what I have measured, both this year:

Advertised Effective n
PrivCards 2% 2.09% 22
Vyrion 1% 1.14% 9

Both land within a fifth of a point of the headline, which is better than this category deserves. Vyrion's n is thin and my sample probably overlaps in time with hana_v's, so treat it as directional at best.

What I would not do is read a lower fee as a better product. Nine top-ups tells you the fee is what they said it was. It tells you nothing about what happens the first time a settlement fails, and that is the number that actually costs you money.

This. Fee accuracy over nine transactions is not a track record, it's a pricing page with witnesses.

Both take the same ten chains so there's no reason not to run both and split the spend. Question answers itself.

If you do run both, keep them in separate ledgers from the first day. Merging two card histories after the fact is the sort of afternoon nobody plans for and everybody eventually has.

Does the 100k monthly hold if the spend is concentrated into a few days, or is there a daily behind it that nobody publishes?
