Paying 15 affiliates every Friday — what rail are you actually using?

Ran a small in-house offer for two years paying monthly and nobody complained - moved to weekly in January because two of my better guys asked, and now Friday is the worst day of my week.

Where I'm at:

  • 15 affiliates, will be 20 by summer
  • weekly, so 60+ individual payments a month
  • average payout is somewhere around $200 to $900, one guy clears 4k some weeks
  • I'm doing it by hand right now, bank transfers, and the fees plus the time are stupid

Budget for tooling is basically nothing - I'll pay a percentage on the money moving but I'm not paying a $300/mo platform for 20 people. And I don't want a rail that needs me to onboard each of them through some KYC flow that takes a week, because half of them won't finish it.

What are you lot actually paying out on? Not what you'd theoretically use - what's moving money on Friday.

usdt on tron. one wallet, 15 sends, done in ten minutes and it costs you about a dollar in total.

the only reason this is a question is that some of your affiliates will say they want a bank transfer. tell them the rate is the rate and payouts are in usdt, and watch how many of them suddenly have a wallet.

Where are the 15 sitting? You left out the only thing that decides this.

Fair - six in the EU, four US, three in South America, one in Pakistan, one I genuinely don't know because he's never told me and I've never asked.

PayPal mass payout!! Upload a CSV, everyone gets paid at once, it's honestly a game changer for exactly this size!

no. sixty outbound payments a month to the same list of individuals, from an account with affiliate revenue coming in, is the exact pattern that gets a paypal account limited. ask anyone who ran a network in 2019.

it works right up until the friday it doesn't and then your money is on hold for 180 days

ok yeah I've only done it for like 4 people at a time so maybe that's why I've been fine. fair enough

Wise Business has a batch payment upload; you drop in a CSV and it fans out to fifteen recipients in whatever local currency each one wants. The per-transfer cost on small EU and US amounts is far below what your bank is charging you now, and the recipients don't onboard through you at all — they just give you their details once.

Two things you should weigh before dismissing it in favour of stablecoins. First, it produces a clean, exportable record of every payment with a name attached, which matters the day someone asks you to substantiate the expense side of your P&L. Second, it will not work for everybody on your list; South America is workable, Pakistan is where it tends to fall over.

I accept that nobody here wants to hear the bookkeeping argument. It is still the argument.

the bookkeeping argument is fine, the problem is wise reading "weekly payments to 15 individuals in 6 countries" and asking him what the business is

They will ask. He can answer it; he is running an offer and paying commissions, which is an entirely ordinary thing for a business to do. The trouble starts when the answer is evasive, not when the question is asked.

Caveat first: I've never run more than about thirty affiliates, so this is not a network-scale answer.

What worked for me was not picking one rail, it was picking one default. 1) Default is stablecoin, and the payout terms say so in writing before anyone signs up. 2) Anyone who won't take it gets a bank transfer, and their minimum threshold is higher — $500 instead of $100 — because that payment costs me more to make. 3) Nobody gets a third option.

The reason to do it that way round is that the exceptions shrink on their own. I started with nine people on bank transfer and inside four months it was two, because waiting three weeks to hit $500 is annoying and getting paid Friday isn't.

Don't run two systems as equals. Run one system with an escape hatch that's slightly worse.

For your three in South America — actually i can tell you what they will ask for, is USDT. Not because they love crypto, is because the alternative for us is a wire that take 4 days and lose 6% between the bank and the spread.

In Brazil some people will ask for Pix instead but you cannot send Pix from outside, so forget this one. Send USDT and let them do the last step themselves, they all have a way already my friend. The one in Pakistan will say the same thing.

Numbers from when I was doing 40-odd payouts a month, mid 2023 through last month. Cost is total cost to me per payment, including what the recipient lost on the far end where I could get them to tell me.

Rail Typical payment Cost to send Landed same day
SEPA €300 ~€0.30 yes
Wise batch, US $400 ~$4 usually
Wire, non-EU $600 $28-45 no, 2-4 days
USDT TRC20 any ~$1 yes

The wire row is why you're posting. Everything else is noise at your volume.

Marta's framing is the one that actually helped, thanks. Going USDT default from April, bank transfer as the worse escape hatch with a higher minimum. Told them this week and got two complaints out of fifteen, which is fewer than I expected.

Reporting back since people asked in PMs.

Six weeks in. Thirteen of fifteen on USDT, the two holdouts are both EU and get SEPA which costs me nothing anyway, so the escape hatch turned out to be free. Friday takes me about twenty minutes now including checking the numbers twice.

One thing nobody warned me about: two guys sent me the wrong network the first time and I had to explain the difference between the chains to a grown adult who has been buying traffic for six years. Build fifteen minutes into your first payout run for that conversation.

One guy left over it. He was also the one who argued about the tracker every month so I'm not heartbroken.
