vyrion says the card is active, $912 sitting on it, nothing authorises

For calibration, here is what fourteen weeks of ordinary Vyrion use looks like on my side. Same card, one issuer, nothing clever.

Week ending Top ups Spends Declines Card quiet
Jun 11 1 9 0 no
Jun 25 1 14 1 no
Jul 09 0 11 0 no
Jul 23 2 17 3 4 days
Aug 06 1 12 0 no
Aug 20 1 8 0 no

The July row is the one that matters to you. Card read active the whole four days and declined everything for all four of them, then started working again with no message and the balance correct to the cent. I never found out what caused it and I stopped looking.

So the failure mode you are describing exists and is survivable. The sample is one card and one person, which is not a sample. I would not draw a conclusion about your $912 before day ten and I would not panic before day thirty.

Had almost exactly this in the spring - different issuer, same shape. Card live, balance showing, every authorisation bounced, and no human anywhere in the product to shout at.

Mine came back on day nineteen. What actually happened, as far as I could reconstruct it afterwards, was that a subscription I had forgotten about retried the same charge eleven times over two days after the first one failed, and somewhere in there the card got treated as compromised. I never proved that. It is just the only thing in my log that looks like a cause.

So - were you running anything on a schedule through it, or was every charge you made a thing you sat down and did?

All manual, nothing recurring. Day 20 now.

This is the same story I was reading on prepaid boards in 2014 and the shape has not changed one bit, which is the part nobody wants to hear.

Back then it was mall cards and reload packs, and every eighteen months an issuer would go quiet on a chunk of its book for reasons that were never published. You would get people posting day counts exactly like this thread, someone would insist it was the acquirer, someone else would insist it was a compliance sweep, and about two thirds of the time the cards woke up and the other third they did not. The only variable that ever predicted which group you were in was how long the issuer had been operating, and that was not a strong predictor either.

What has changed is that the reload is now on chain, so at least you can prove the money left you. In 2014 you could not even do that.

None of which helps you today. But if you are asking whether this is new: it is not new, it is the oldest thing in this business wearing a seed phrase.

My friend actually the same happen with a colleague here in São Paulo, but with different card, and what he discover is the card was never really frozen.

The issuer here send the authorisation and the local acquirer refuse before it even arrive to them. So on the card side is active, on his side is decline, and both are telling truth. He only find out because he test in a hotel abroad and it work first try.

Is worth to test outside your country if you have any way. Everybody assume freeze and nobody test the boring thing first.

Day 45!! It works again.

No message, no explanation, I tried the coffee place on the way in this morning out of habit and it just went through. Then the hosting charge went through an hour later.

Balance is not right though. I had $912 and there is $793.60 there.

Short by how much, and short against what record?

$118.40 against my own notes. Their history only shows the last 30 days now.

That number is worth reconstructing rather than accepting, because two very different explanations land near it.

Add up the 1% commission on every top up you made and the dollar issuance, from your own notes rather than theirs. If the total is close to 118 then you were charged twice somewhere and the second set never got itemised, which is a billing error you cannot appeal but can at least name.

If it is nowhere near 118, then what you are looking at is authorisation holds from the dead period that never released. Those sometimes come back at 30 days on their own. Check again on the 5th of November before you write it off.

Merged a second thread on the same card into this one. One place, please.

Closing this off since people keep finding it.

The $118.40 never came back. Checked in November like Metrics said, nothing moved, and there is no way to ask.

Card has worked every day since October 6th. I still use it, but I run a second one now and I do not leave more than a week of spend on either, which is what nullroute said in August and I ignored.
